The «KIPP-2M» power meter went into serial production in 2009. It represents the latest development of a family of equipment for integrated distributed automation systems. This equipment family has already demonstrated its qualities in the Russian federal and regional power grids, distribution networks, substation automation applications, power generation plants and customer-level distribution systems.
The «KIPP-2M» power meter offers a unique combination of integrated functions:
- class 0.2S measurement converter for electric power values (voltage, current, active power, reactive power, cos, symmetrical voltage and current components)
- four-quadrant data metering
- Time-of-Use (TOU) energy accounting
- 2 power consumption logs with selectable time intervals
- mini-RTU for SCADA applications (10/16 DI, 2 DO)
- data concentrator and controller for up to 30 other metering units
- concurrent operation with AMR and SCADA systems (separate or integrated)
- several communication options with higher-level AMR and SCADA systems at different speed and bandwidth
- electric power quality monitoring
- separate logs for commercial and technically relevant events
- long-term data storage
- battery backup
- protection against unsanctioned access and tampering
- open, standard communication protocols
The «KIPP-2M» power meter is primarily foreseen for installation at distribution substations at voltage levels from 0.4 to 750 kV and at three-phase grid-customer interconnections.
The «KIPP-2M» power meter fulfills the requirements set by the Russian system operator (ISO) and the Russian power market operator.
The meter includes 10 (extendable to 16) digital inputs (DI) for status monitoring of external devices. Two digital outputs (DO) support the execution of dispatching control commands.
Owing to this combination of these different features, the «KIPP-2M» power meter can be used as a single, remote collection point for commercial and technical data for SCADA dispatch control as well as in AMR commercial electric energy metering systems. With the «KIPP-2M» power meter the number and type of distribution grids components can be reduced and the design significantly simplified.
The «KIPP-2M» power meter is included in the Russian State Registry for measurement devices (license № 41436-09). It fulfills the requirements defined by the «Market Council» group of the Russian system operator (ISO) about commercial electric energy metering equipment and those by the Russian Federal electric grid company FSK UES on the quality of devices for electric energy measurement.
